Short Term Mission Trips

Short term mission trips are a great discipleship tool for youth. Taking your students on a short term project where they can be the hands and feet of Jesus will shape their Christian walk like nothing else.

In Matthew 10, we see Jesus sending out his disciples into the surrounding villages to heal the sick and preach the coming of the kingdom of God. When followers of Jesus go beyond their comfort zones, they learn how to step out in faith and depend on God. A short-term missions experience is, perhaps, the best discipleship decision you can make for a young person.

Moreover, short-term missions are a great means of giving your students a practical lesson in evangelism. On a mission trip, they have a perfect scenario in which to utilize any evangelistic material they've learned, including a practical context in which to embody the good news of the message of Christ.

Lastly, by going to new and different cultures, people have an opportunity to deepen their prayer lives through short term mission trips. As with any uncomfortable or faith-stretching situations, short-term missionaries are somewhat "forced" to cry out to God in desperation. As a result, they may witness incredible miracles and other events that will build their faith.
